Lyrics -
In The Bleak Midlothian
In the bleak Midlothian, winter in Lasswade
Earth was hard as iron, tempers getting frayed
Snow was falling snow on snow, half an inch no more
Traffic jams and chaos, crashes by the score
Drivers revving madly, spinning round and round
Christmas joy like snow was thin upon the ground
Where were the Council gritters, standing in a line
Working out their rotas and their overtime
The Council spokesman said, "Now, please don't criticise"
Snow in mid-December, caught us by surprise"
Who could have foreseen it, snow on snow
Coldest day for years, 1 degree below.
Snow was falling snow on snow
Snow on snow
In the bleak Midlothian, not so long ago In The Bleak Midlothian
