Lyrics -
Nowhere Else To Go
They're pulling down our house to make a supermarket,
The bathroom will be full of tins of beans.
Somewhere there's a man with a cunning master plan,
I think this is what progress means.
I'll have to find a new place for the budgie,
I'll have to find a new place for my bed,
A bulldozer was waiting, there's no need for hesitating,
So I went up to the driver and I said...
This place is our place, it's nothing very fancy sir, I know.
But it's all that we have got so I'm asking you to stop,
'Cos there's really nowhere else for us to go,
No there's really nowhere else for us to go.
They're pulling down the forest with their diesel chainsaws.
Tearing down the bushes and the trees,
Filling in the holes which give shelter to the voles,
And burning all the shady leaves.
The foxes and the badgers will be homeless.
The spiders, ants and every living thing.
The weasels were all worried until out a rabbit scurried
He said 'Gather round the lumberjacks and sing!'
This place is our place, it's nothing very fancy sir, I know,
But it's all that we have got so I'm asking you to stop,
'Cos there's really nowhere else for us to go,
No there's really nowhere else for us to go.
They're knocking down the world to build a great big car park.
Soon there will be concrete everywhere,
No clean sea for the dolphin swimming free,
Not a breath of clean fresh air.
The world belongs to animals as well sir,
The plants all have their place upon the land.
It's the only one, so it's time that we began,
To sing and make them understand.... (please listen)
This place is our place, it's nothing very fancy sir, I know,
But it's all that we have got so I'm asking you to stop,
'Cos there's really nowhere else for us to go.
No there's really nowhere else for us to go.
